Spring Break 2016

Oh, Spring Break, how I adore you.

I got to spend so much time with my favorite little Lus, packing in plenty o' fun during our 10 days off from school. Here's a snippet of what we were up to during Spring Break 2016:

Day 1. Hello, Good Friday; Hello, Day 1 of Spring Break! We got in Easter mode this day, dyeing eggs, making a Jesus cake, opening grandparent Easter gifts, and more!

Day 2. This day was all about getting down and dirty with some manual labor. My hub had 30 yards of mulch delivered, which we then spent every spare minute over the next four days transporting, and spreading, all over the front and back yard. And while I said "we," my hub and Banks definitely did 95% of the work themselves, with us Luton ladies pitching in wherever we could!

Day 3. He is risen! Easter had arrived! We started our morning by checking out our Easter baskets and hunting for the eggs he hid before heading to the early church service to avoid the massive crowds that were sure to take our usual mid-morning service. :) We had a delicious, Southern Easter lunch of fried chicken with all the fixins' (courtesy of Bojangles-ha!) and spent the rest of the day manual labor-ing away before snuggling together on the couch to watch a little "America's Funniest Home Videos." It probably sounds a little atypical, but we had a wonderful Easter together, just the five of us. <3

Day 4. To Charleston we went! Although my hub had to work in Charlotte and thus couldn't join us, my trio and I headed to the beach to stay with my brother, sister "in law," and beautiful niece in their new house. We were greeted by gorgeous weather when we arrived and took full advantage, including golf cart tours of their awesome 'hood, an afternoon at Isle of Palms, and then dining al fresca back at their house. It was a great day!

Day 5. We spent the morning of Day 5 visiting the Charleston Aquarium and lucked into the fact that the famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids just so happened to be visiting for the week. So, we petted sharks, sting rays, and starfish and oohed and aahed over the beautiful sights before taking in the special mermaid show. Rals was in heaven! We then headed home, surprising Bammy at work on our way back. :)

Day 6. We kicked off this day by heading to the Charlotte outlets to finish out our Spring/Summer kiddo clothes shopping before coming home and introducing Banks and Raleigh to Root Beer Floats. Delish!

Day 7. Although storms were predicted this day, they failed to arrive, which meant we got to spend the morning at our local greenway visiting the horses. We continued to take advantage of the surprisingly sunny weather by playing outside alllllll day. Delightful!

Day 8. Day 8 was spent road trippin' to Aiken, South Carolina, to spend the weekend with our Nana and Pop!

Day 9. This was a special day for the Lu men, as Pop, my hub, and Bankster spent the day together on Pop's boat,  fishing up a storm and having the best time! Banks immediately caught a fish and the luck continued, with the haul they brought back including 20+ crappie. Meanwhile, Raleigh, Harrison, and I got to spend the entire day with our Nana, as well as Aunt Chrissy and cousin Maddie. We had the best time chatting away and letting the little ones play together all day. <3

Day 10. We spent our last Spring Break morning soaking in more grandparent time before heading home for a back yard picnic and settling back in so we can officially close out the school year.

We had a wonderful Spring Break, and now there are only 33.5 more school days until we're out for summer!!! Yahoo!!! The countdown is ON!
