Highlights of 2019

This year flew by at lightening speed. Truly, it was the fastest year of my life. Perhaps it's because it was action packed and full of fun, but still, I cannot believe we are now not only saying farewell to 2019 but to an entire decade (as well as the last year of my 30s). It's bananas, I tell ya!

As I always do, I want to close out my 2019 blogging by recapping highlights from each month. While there were many moments in between those I share here that I loved just as much, these are the memories that come to mind first when thinking of each month. Off we go!

January. We began the year as we always do, celebrating Raleigh's birthday! We surprised her with the news that her dreams had come true: she would be getting the kitten she had begged for for years! We also celebrated the big 0-7 with the sweetest slumber party, thanks to Sensational Sleepovers. <3 And my hub and I headed to California to watch our Tigers take down Bama to win the Natty!

February. I surprised by hub by giving up my brunette roots and returning to the blonde he knows and loves - ha! We celebrated Chinese New Year, had a little getaway for Valentine's Day at The Wilcox in Aiken, and the girls and I enjoyed our annual Red Carpet Viewing party, getting all fancy and watching the celebs strut their stuff.

March. This month included our favorite local event of the year: the Greenway Gala! Harrison got registered for kindergarten and started teeball, Banks got to sub in for a couple of travel baseball tournaments, and Rals began her first season of flag football. My hub also swept Raleigh and Bella off their feet for the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance (Bella's first year to attend). :)

April. Harrison's birthday month! He wanted a bowling party and that's just what he got to celebrate turning one whole hand. ;) We traveled to Clemson for the spring scrimmage game; I completed my second half marathon; my hub completed his first Spartan race; and we enjoyed both Spring Break and Easter as family.

May. Happy Birthday to Bellaboo! Happy Birthday to my hub! We celebrated both as well as Harrison's preschool graduation, Raleigh's dance recital, and our annual Memorial Day trip with friends we love.

June. My hub and I celebrated 15 years of marriage this month and took a trip to St. Lucia to commemorate it. <3 Additionally, the school year officially ended, swim team got under way, and All-Stars baseball began for Banks.

July. We love the beach and love time with family; so, this was a great month with both, as we traveled to the beach on two different weeks with each "side" of our family. We also celebrated the 4th of July, the second anniversary of Bella's Gotcha Day, and we loved every minute!

August. As summer came to a close, we enjoyed our second annual "Adventure Week" as a family. We then welcomed in the first school year of having all four little Lus at the same school: preschool, kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grades. My hub and I also took a trip to NYC and Connecticut for a fun family wedding AND attended the first Clemson game of the year sans kids. My hub and the boys attended Father-Son Camp at Camp Thunderbird, and Raleigh and I attended Mother-Daughter Camp at Camp Crestridge. <3

September. It was a big birthday for Banks this month, turning double digits, which was celebrated a few weeks later with a father-son trip to our nation's capital. Fall sports were also well underway, which included flag football for Harrison, tackle football and golf for Banks,  and gymnastics and dance for Raleigh and Bella, respectively.

October. It was all kinds of festive Fall fun this month, with costumes and pumpkin patches and book character days and more, all amongst the crazy Fall schedules. :)

November. We definitely felt thankful for the month of November, as my hub and I snuck away to Napa for a celebratory business trip. We also took the kiddos to their first Clemson game of the season as well as a surprise trip to the mountains, which included picking out our Christmas tree. We spent time with both "sides" of the family for Thanksgiving (and my hub got in our annual Turkey Trot). This month was a good one. <3

December. And then, December arrived! And with it, not only all kinds of events and activities related to Jesus' birthday but a little fun thrown in for mine as well. ;) We will end the year as we always do: counting down with the kiddos as the clock strikes 12:00...noon...for our Happy Noon Year celebration. We will reflect on this fast year and look forward to new adventures coming in hot in January 2020.

It was been a year of growth and change, love and commitment. It was a really good one. And with baited breath, I look forward to seeing what God has in store for my Lu Crew over the next weeks, months, year, and decade. Cheers to you, 2019. To 2020 we go!
