Ohmygoodness. It is NOVEMBER. Is that nuts or what?! Halloween has come and gone and now we await Thanksgiving's arrival. Before that, though, a few things we are saying CHEERS to as this first November weekend arrives:
Halloween fun. On Halloween Eve, we carved our pumpkin and then went out back to make s'mores. It was so fun, and I love, love, love getting to witness this all through Bella's eyes, getting to see her take it all in (wondering what the heck is going on ;) .
The next day, Halloween, was "Book Character Day" at FMES. Banks dressed as Greg Heffley from one of his favorite book series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Raleigh dressed as the fish from one of her favorite books to read to me these days, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.
And then came trick-or-treating time!!! I loooooove our neighborhood on Halloween. There are so.many.kiddos. all over the place, donning their adorable costumes, while parents follow alongside them, either on foot or on golf carts, usually while sipping on an adult beverage. I'm pretty sure our neighborhood decorates more for Halloween than Christmas, and it is so fun to see so many fun, festive friends. :)
Anywho. I had hoped I could get the kiddos to dress in theme this year, and they complied - as super heroes! I have to admit, seeing my girls as Batmangirl and Robin made my heart sing - sisters who will have each other's back forever. <3
And Bella did GREAT! She didn't budge from her costume for the 2+ hours we were out and about, even wearing her mask the entire time. She was just taking it all in and wondering what the heck all of us crazy people were doing, traipsing all over the neighborhood in costumes and collecting candy. ;) Can't wait 'til next year!!!
More checks off the medical to-do list. Bella and I headed back to her neurosurgeon's office earlier this week for an incision check, and it looks like the incision is healing really well. She has a whole bunch of stitches in her back, and glue over that, which should all dissolve over the next week or so, I hope. We were able to resume 3 of her 4 therapies, with physical therapy being back on the docket starting on Monday.
Also, I took Banks for his first orthodontic consultation. We absolutely LOVE his orthodontist. Sure, the doctor may be my sister ;), but she is top-notch and there's no one else we'd entrust his orthodontic future to. And the practice is phenomenal. Seriously, we left feeling so impressed and so at home. Thank you, Thomas and Leitner, and Dr. Whitney/Aunt Whit, for making us feel so comfortable from the minute we walked in the office. And now, braces are coming our way Summer 2018. We'll be ready! :)
Flag Football season. Last night, we cheered on Banks in his last flag football game of the regular season. He was so excited to see his Bammy surprise him for dinner at our house and then the game. This kid eats, sleeps, and breathes football. He is just in his element on the field, and it is so fun to watch him doing what he loves. Next up, playoffs, which kick off this Saturday. Let's go, Texans!
And now, let the weekend begin! We are SO excited to have Nana and Pop here with us this weekend. We can't wait to just enjoy each other's company and cheer on our Tigers from the comfort of our home as they take on NC State in an away game. Other than that, we'll be soaking up the beautiful Fall weather and mentally preparing for the holiday craziness that is on the horizon. :)
Have a great weekend, friends! See you back here next week!
