Coffee Date Friday: Ringing in 2014

Hello! Hi! Hola! What up? How you doin'? It's good to see you!

Thanks for stopping by for a little coffee (via link up with Rags to Stitches) on this, the first Friday of 2014. I'm so glad to see you and, as we sat fireside and poured ourselves a nice, hot, cup o' joe, I would ask, first and foremost, about YOU. I would want to hear all about your holiday season, about how you rang in the new year, and about what you have up your sleeve for the upcoming weeks. Once our conversation was properly saturated with all things you, I would share the following about moi:

...That we had a wonderful time with my sister, brother-in-law, and niece over this last week. They are moving from North Carolina to Georgia and needed a place to crash between house closings, and we readily and whole-heartedly volunteered to serve as their crash pad. What fun we had over the time they were here!

...That I have made one, single resolution for myself for this year. It is, perhaps, the most important resolution I have ever made and will ever make. I won't go into details now but will certainly share more about it soon. And I'm looking forward to another great year with this guy:

...That, speaking of New Year's, we had a blast ringing in the new year with five of our favorite Fort Mill couples (and family). We hired a joint babysitter who watched all the kids at our place while we grown-ups enjoyed yummy appetizers, burgers off the grill, and, of course, plenty o' bevs. It was a very fun and low-key way to send off 2013!

...That my Clemson Tigers play Ohio State in the Orange Bowl tonight! Yahoo!! We'll be donning our orange and white and enjoying a tailgate-approved, appetizers-only dinner. I cannot wait! I am so sad college football is coming to an end already this season. And it's  crazy to think that by the next college football season, I'll have an almost-5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 4-month-old. I better make sure we're well-stocked in our Tiger wear!

...That we have this itty, bitty, teensy, tiny, little ol' thang we'll be doing this weekend...celebrating my sweet Raleigh's second birthday!!!! If I haven't made it clear before, I just love, love, love birthdays! We opted to do a family-only function this year for her birthday, but I have a feeling my little lady will have a blast! More on that coming next week...

...That the transformation from little girl room to big girl room begins this month! Although my Raleigh is just as happy as can be in her crib, we need it for the nursery, and just as we did with Banks, want to give her plenty of time to adjust to a new bed before her little toddler world is turned upside-down with the arrival of her new sibling. So. I'll be working on her "new" room this month with the goal of beginning to tackle the new nursery next month. Whew!

...That winter months can be a bit...hmmm...tricky when it comes to 4-year-old boys. You see, 4-year-old boys have a lot of energy. A.LOT.OF.ENERGY. And they need to GET.IT.OUT. one way or another. So, I have a feeling we'll be bundling up every single day as long as the temps are above freezing and venturing outside to, for the love of all things holy and sane in the world, release some of that energy. I sure do love my energetic, life-loving, play-pursuing little boy. So, a-bundling-up we'll go!

And then, assuming our cups were empty, I would give you one more cup o' caffeine for the road before wishing you a wonderful first weekend of 2014.

Y'all come back now, ya hear?
